Smugglers

Do you know what smugglers are?

They are people who bring things into the country or take them out illegally.  This is usually done to avoid paying taxes on the goods. In the old days in England the high taxes on things like tea, wine, wool and some grains made it very profitable for smugglers to sneak these things into the country.

These days, smuggling is done with things like drugs or native animals or eggs.  In my recent adventure, 'Taya Bayliss - Code Breaker', I got caught up with some smugglers. Phew! Things got pretty scary there for a while.  Make sure you read the story and send me a message telling me what you think.

Here are some other books that involve smugglers.  Check them out!

The Mystery of Smugglers Cove    by Paul Moxham

Joe and his sisters have some great adventures on their summer holidays.

Lost Island Smugglers      by Max Elliot Anderson

This is one of the Sam Cooper adventures. Sam and his friends end up stranded on Lost Island after a storm. They have a scary, scuba, ocean adventure.

Five Go to Smuggler's Top     by Enid Blyton

This one is a classic. My mum says she read it when she was a child.
Julian, Dick, Anne, George and Timmy the dog have problems to solve as they investigate secret hiding places and underground tunnels.

Happy Reading!

Taya.
